KO! KO! KO! Paul versus Paul. The first hour and a half was action packed, which made most of the event worth its pay-per-view fees. The upset in the under card fight was not totally unexpected, but it was a much needed win for Werdum.
As predicted, the results of the main event are BJ Penn defeats Stevenson for the UFC lightweight championship. He cut Stevenson in the first round and ended the fight in the second round with a rear naked choke, nice.
Main card results:
- BJ Penn defeats Joe Stevenson (rear naked choke in round 2)
- Fabricio Werdum defeats Gabriel Gonzaga (tko in round 2)
- Paul Kelly defeats Paul Taylor (unanimous decision)
- Marcus Davis defeats Jess Liaudin (tko in round 1)
- Wilson Gouveia defeats Jason Lambert (tko in round 2)
- Jorge Rivera defeats Kendell Grove (tko in round 1)

I just ordered UFC 80 Rapid Fire on Pay-Per-View. The pre-show interviews start in less than 10 minutes. The fights start at 7:00 pm Pacific. I will post an update later tonight, hopefully Penn and Gonzaga will win their bouts. Be back in a couple of hours.

I was watching one item, but I did not bid because the bid amounts quickly surpassed my maximum. Specifically, I was watching Anderson Silva’s autographed gloves from UFC 77 Hostile Territory.
Anderson Silva is one of my favorite fighters and is undoubtedly one of the best in the world. So, when his gloves were listed for auction, I was interested in bidding on the item. Christmas just passed, so my maximum was only $1,000.
Well, in less than forty-eight hours the bid amount surpassed the one-thousand mark so I stopped watching the item. I considered bidding higher, but it was apparent the winning bid was going to be higher than what I wanted to pay.
Drum roll please … Anderson Silva’s autographed gloves sold for seven thousand one hundred fifty dollars! If that were not enough, the same winner won Silva’s matching autographed shorts too. Total $10, 650.00, not including shipping.

UFC 80 Rapid Fire is one week away, nice. The only fight I am interested in watching is the main card featuring BJ Penn and Joe Stevenson. The under card features Gonzaga and Werdum, both Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt Champions, so it should be interesting too.
Both Penn and Stevenson have excellent submission skills, so the fighters may select a ground strategy to win by submission. However, I do not see either fighter submitting the other. I predict BJ Penn to win by decision.
The under card featuring the two Brazilian fighters is an opportunity for Gonzaga to reposition himself after the loss to Randy Couture at UFC 74. Fabricio Werdum lost his UFC debut to Andrei Arlovski, so he is in need of a win in the UFC.
Penn defeats Stevenson and Gonzaga defeats Werdum. The balance of the fight card is mediocre at best, so my advice to the fighters is to drop it likes it hot and leave it all in the octagon or your days may be numbered.

I was not aware that December 31, 2007 was the end of life for PHP 4.x. What does the announcement mean to me? I need to select a PHP-based framework that is written in native PHP 5.x or runs on PHP 5.x.
PHP 4.x frameworks that run on PHP 5.x do not leverage or exploit the features of the PHP 5.x language and rewriting may not be feasible for most projects at this time. Do I abandon PHP 4.x frameworks and focus on native PHP 5.x frameworks?

The Prado team has closed an additional fourteen tickets, nice. The question is still whether or not the 3.1.2 milestone will be delayed. My guess is the balance of active tickets will be moved to the 3.2.0 release.
I am continuing my research and will proceed with version 3.1.1. Also, I am developing a simple mailing list manager and may post the source here. If you are interested, just let me know.

The two iPod Touches that I purchased for Christmas were not initialized, so I was forced to download and install the iTunes 7.4 software to initialize the iPods! Is it too much to ask Apple to pre-initialize their devices?
Initialize the devices and do not force consumers to use their worthless software. Oh, QuickTime is no longer an optional component, it must be installed too! I installed iTunes 7.4, initialized the iPods, and uninstalled the software except the iPod service.
I use Floola 2.4 iPod management software to copy music to the iPod Touches versus using iTunes software. Floola 2.4 allows videos to be added to the iPod, but I have not tried it with the Touches. I will try it later tonight and post an update.

WordPress 2.3.2 security release was available for download on December 29, 2007. I planned on upgrading this weekend, but I have other plans. So, I performed the 2.3.2 version upgrade earlier this evening.
Not so fast Ricky Racer! I did not overwrite the 2.3.1 files as instructed in the upgrade instructions; instead I performed a DIFF of 2.3.1 and 2.3.2 to identify the updated files and overwrote only those files that changed in 2.3.2.
While performing the DIFF operation, I noticed that in addition to the security-related changes the 2.3.2 release includes an updated version of the Akismet plugin. No need for a plugin upgrade too, nice!
Below are the files that changed in 2.3.2:
- .\wp-admin\includes\file.php
- .\wp-admin\admin.php
- .\wp-admin\install.php
- .\wp-admin\setup-config.php
- .\wp-content\plugins\akismet\akismet.php
- .\wp-includes\formatting.php
- .\wp-includes\functions.php
- .\wp-includes\pluggable.php
- .\wp-includes\post.php
- .\wp-includes\query.php
- .\wp-includes\taxonomy.php
- .\wp-includes\version.php
- .\wp-includes\wp-db.php
- .\wp-app.php
- .\wp-mail.php
- .\wp-settings.php
- .\xmlrpc.php

The Prado roadmap indicates that 3.1.2 is due in five days. There are forty (46) active tickets, is it safe to assume 3.1.2 will be delayed or will the team move active items to a future 3.1.x release?
I am interested in the milestone, because I am evaluating several different PHP-based frameworks and prefer to evaluate Prado 3.1.2 versus the current version. If the 3.1.2 release is delayed, I will proceed with 3.1.1.

I stumbled on a spell check add-in for Visual Studio today and immediately thought of a spelling challenged consultant. The consultant transitioned off the project one year ago, but I am still finding his spelling errors in the source code.
I have not downloaded or used the spell checker, but it appears to spell check text in ASP.NET and HTML files. It supports a standard ignore list and adding custom words to an active Office custom dictionary.
The updated version supports text verification for ASP.NET and HTML comments, plus C++, CSS, and VB style comments. It is available for both Visual Studio 2005 and Visual Studio 2008.
